• John and Vivian are parents to two children: John JR (44) and open (39-43). John is a bonafide filmmaker and travels a lot for work while Vivian raises the children.
• In early 1979, John begins filming his next project overseas and meets a young actress named Diana. The two fall in love while making the movie and by the time the movie has wrapped, John decides to leave Vivian for Diana.
• John files for divorce from Vivian and proposes to Diana. The scandal hits Hollywood and it seems like everyone is taking a side. John and Vivian share custody of both children and they are to spend holidays and every other weekend with their father.

• After the divorce, Vivian launched a career for herself and is now just as well-known as her ex-husband. She and John are still on rocky terms and she and Diana do not like one another at all. The tension is no secret to the Wright children who have been dragged through the drama since day one.
